At United Middle School, mysteries aren't just an occasional problem-they're an everyday disaster. When Jake, Emily, Amy, and Max-the school's unofficial mystery squad-team up to solve a string of bizarre cases, things get wild. From stolen mascots and missing trophies to gym floor sabotage and exploding science labs, no case is too ridiculous for them to crack. But solving mysteries is never straightforward-especially when Mia and Chip, the school's resident chaos magnets, keep getting involved. Whether they're accidentally stealing things, getting locked in janitor's closets, or blaming everything on ghosts, their "help" usually makes things worse... and way funnier. With high-stakes heists, ridiculous disguises, and the occasional runaway cat, the young investigators will have to navigate pranks, clues, and Principal Thompson's ever-growing headache. Will they solve the cases before the school descends into total chaos? Or will their antics get them banned from solving mysteries forever? Fans of The Hardy Boys and The Misadventures of Max Crumbly will love this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud middle school mystery series packed with friendship, fun, and plenty of trouble!
Autorenporträt
About the Author E. J. Rohly grew up on a farm in rural Ohio, where her imagination had plenty of room to run wild. As a kid, she loved making up stories-especially when she babysat and could share her tales with the kids she watched. Sometimes, she even let them produce their own endings! Making up stories is still one of her favorite things to do. Esther went to school to learn more about teaching kids, and she became a preschool teacher, where she has spent years creating fun ways for little ones to learn and grow. As her family grew, she took literature classes to get better at writing, hoping to author her own books. Now, she is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and continues to learn new things through writing classes. Today, she is busy writing mysteries and adventures to spark imagination, just like her own love of stories sparked years ago on her family's farm.
