Judence Kayitesi wurde 1983 in Ruanda in eine Tutsi-Familie hineingeboren. Der Genozid an den Tutsi in Ruanda ereignete sich 1994, als sie 11 Jahre alt war. Sie überlebte, schwer am Kopf durch eine Machete verletzt, die Zeit, in der fast eine Million Menschen, hauptsächlich Tutsi, in etwa hundert Tagen auf die schrecklichste Art und Weise ermordet wurden. Sie verlor ihre Eltern und viele ihrer Verwandten und konnte vier Jahre lang nicht sprechen. Dies beeinflusste ihr ganzes Leben und tut es auch heute noch. Judence Kayitesi ist ausgebildete Kinderpädagogin, Workshop-Trainerin und Gründerin des INZOZI-Verlags.
