In the quiet, cobblestone streets of Eldergrove lies Barnaby's Curiosities, a dusty little bookstore brimming with forgotten tales. Fourteen-year-old Clara Hawthorne stumbles upon a mysterious, untitled green leather tome-its pages blank until they begin to write themselves before her eyes. Drawn into the tale of a young prince and a magical realm, Clara discovers that the story is somehow entwined with her own life. Guided by whispers from the book and visions in a golden mirror, she embarks on a journey into the Garden of Secrets, confronting her deepest fears and uncovering the truth of who she is meant to be. Part fantasy, part self-discovery, this enchanting tale reveals that the most powerful magic lies in the courage to write your own story.
Autorenporträt
Writing The Unopened Tome has been a journey of discovery, much like Clara's own. The story was born from my lifelong love of books that feel alive-stories that don't just entertain, but challenge us to look inward, to ask who we are and who we want to become. At its heart, this book is about courage-the quiet, persistent kind that often begins with fear. Clara's adventures reflect the struggles many of us face: the longing to step beyond what is familiar, the doubts that whisper we are not enough, and the triumph of finding strength in unexpected places. Eldergrove, Barnaby's Curiosities, and the Garden of Secrets all grew out of my fascination with the idea that books themselves are gateways. Each page we turn has the power to shape us, to mirror truths we didn't know we were searching for. I wrote this story not only for young readers but for anyone who has ever felt the pull of adventure, the weight of uncertainty, or the hope that their story truly matters. My wish is that Clara's journey inspires readers to embrace their own-whether that means picking up a pen, facing a fear, or simply daring to believe that their voice belongs in the world. This book is just the beginning of Clara's adventures, and I am excited to continue exploring the paths that lie ahead with her-and with you. - Tyler J Gilmore Sr.
