The word "Essay" comes from the French, "Essai" which means a "try" or an "attempt". The "attempts" contained in this collection are random tries at capturing a moment, an observation or an elusive thought. They're meant to be read individually and not as one single, beautifully flowing narrative. They're offered as they came to me, sometimes suddenly and sometimes over a number of years. I've tried to capture ideas and to demonstrate a remarkable phenomenon: That what is obvious to some is big news to everybody else.

Autorenporträt
Sterling E. Rowe is a retired attorney from the Boston area. He is the author of nine previous books including essays, a memoir, and five novels. His newest book, Love at Last Sight, is a novelized version of true events, none of which have been altered in the least. It is written as if authored by a narrator to allow a third party's insights into the dynamic between the main characters-but the real events unfolded just as they are portrayed in the book. In a world of fading memories and failing bodies, this is the story of a bond that never wavered.
