In another place, Joel, a young Aboriginal boy bent on playing football, is dissatisfied with his life and determines to take every step forward through school and university. He becomes a lawyer and escapes the city to fulfil his ambitions for his people in a more relevant area. His role model is his Uncle Charlie. Meanwhile, a South American man, Alvaro, has settled in Australia with an Australian wife and two children, and returns from a recent visit to his homeland disturbed by his loves and loyalties in his present life and the past. His wife seeks to help him resolve his uncertainties. By chance, these assorted characters meet up and experience harmony through their meeting.
Autorenporträt
Eileen was born in Queensland in Northern Australia during the Second World War and has witnessed many key moments in Australian and world history. Throughout her youth and in her later career, Eileen has always retained interest in Australia's Aboriginal past, white settlement, and, in more recent times, migration. In her first book, The Weave, she draws on her own experience in meeting people from varied backgrounds through listening to their stories, experiences and values. Eileen believes that an understanding of history leads to improved understanding, knowledge and, in our own time, the revelation of what connects us all as human beings.
