The world is a beautiful place that God created. There is much to see, enjoy and explore. However, there is also danger in the world. Children in particular, need to be encouraged to explore and enjoy the beauty of the world around them. At the same time, they should be taught that there is also danger in the world, and there are things and people that can harm them. There are people who may lie to them and can't be trusted. Their parents and adults that they can trust love them and are there to protect them from harm. They should therefore listen to and obey their parents and the adults who are in charge of caring for them. This unique bilingual fiction book uses animals from the beautiful Chihuahua Desert to teach this powerful lesson. All though it is fiction, the mountains, vegetation, and animals are all realistically portrayed and drawn with the famous Organ Mountains of southern New Mexico as the backdrop. Each picture has details of hidden southwestern icons such as arrow heads and pottery, as well as insects unique to the Chihuahua desert. The colors are bright and eye catching with a "southwestern" style. Finally, even though the message is serious, it is written in a lighthearted witty way that reflects the culture of the border region of Mexico and the USA. Both children and adults will enjoy the pictures, the dialogue between characters, and understand the message.
Autorenporträt
Joe "Jose" Williams is a pastor and retired schoolteacher who lives on three acres of the beautiful Chihuahua desert outside of Anthony, New Mexico. From his home on the mesa overlooking the Rio Grande valley he has a "perfect view" of both the Organ mountains near Las Cruces New Mexico, the Franklin Mountains in El Paso Texas, and the Juarez Mountains of Old Mexico. He lives with his lovely wife Debra and their dog Liberty. He has three grown children, married to wonderful spouses, 5 grandchildren, two brothers, and lots of nephews and nieces that he loves very much. He is a native New Mexican and has hiked, fished, hunted, and explored the southwest his entire life. This is the first children's book he has written and illustrated that he plans as a series of books about animals of the Chihuahua Desert. Each book teaches children strong moral lessons that will help them learn, obedience, love, acceptance, humility, and many other positive character traits. The books will be written in Spanish and English and reflect the unique culture of the border region the author lives in.
