Im Mai 2009 jährt sich zum sechzigsten Mal die Verabschiedung des Grundgesetzes. Aus Anlass dieses Jubiläums gibt die Stiftung zwei zentrale Reden heraus, die Theodor Heuss vor dem Parlamentarischen Rat gehalten hat. Seine Eröffnungsrede am 9. September 1948 wie auch seine Abschlussrede am 8. Mai 1949 stehen als markante Eckpunkte für seine engagierte Tätigkeit in dieser verfassungsgebenden Versammlung. Der Band wird durch einen Essay von Prof. Dr. Jutta Limbach ergänzt.

Perlentaucher-Notiz zur F.A.Z.-Rezension

Wie eloquent Theodor Heuss sich im Bonner Parlamentarischen Rat zu äußern pflegte, kann Rainer Blasius anhand der zum 60. Geburtstag des Grundgesetzes herausgegebenen Reden aus dem Umkreis der Verfassungsgebung nachvollziehen, zwei "Glanzstücke", wie er findet. Von Ernst Wolfgang Beckers Einleitung und Kommentierung hätte Blasius sich allerdings mehr erwartet. Jutta Limbachs ebenfalls im Band enthaltenen Essay über Heuss' Wirken im Parlamentarischen Rat findet er offensichtlich etwas zu "launig".
