The book Thinking About Clean Energy is based on a collection of articles written as partial requirements for the completion of the courses Energy Culture, Renewable Energy Sources, Environmental Management, and Environmental Law, taken by the author in the master's programs in Energy in Agriculture and Regional Management and Development at the State University of Western Paraná. Energy can be defined as a natural resource that can be exploited industrially through the application of technology and different associated resources. The concept of renewable, on the other hand, is related to replacing something with something new, transforming or reestablishing what has been interrupted. Thus, renewable energy refers to the type of energy that can be obtained from virtually inexhaustible natural sources, since they contain an immense amount of energy or can regenerate naturally. Seeking to contribute to the reflection on this topic, this book provides a collaboration presenting articles that discuss the topic of biomass and hydroelectric power in conjunction with discussions on production, productivity, price, commercialization, economic viability, and sustainability.
