This book reflects on what happens when a place is so beautiful that people visit and never leave. The Grand Traverse region of Michigan's Lower Peninsula has experienced profound human and climatological change as people have relocated to partake in the beauty of the highly scenic region. It is one of the most impacted areas of the state, with population changes accelerated by the pandemic and climate change. This book explores attempts to balance environmental preservation among a new population and the tensions between "natives" and newcomers.

Autorenporträt
Tim Mulherin first visited the Grand Traverse region in 1986 and, like most everyone who comes to northern Michigan, was instantly smitten by it. He is a frequent contributor to the Glen Arbor Sun newspaper, and his writing has appeared in Traverse Magazine.
