Told through the voice of Tommy Colozzo, Time Capsules is a humorous yet harrowing and imaginative depiction of a young boy struggling to find his place within his family, school, and the workplace. Beginning in the 1980s and spanning five decades, Time Capsules speaks to audiences of all ages. Easily distracted and often seeking dopamine boosts in the thrills of risktaking, Tommy listens to the guidance of an intrusive Voice residing in his mind. As he grows up, the Voice evolves just as his antics do. Thankfully, Tommy has allies-- two unforgettable classmates who balance him with reason, empathy, and the occasional smack in the head amidst his craziness. Tommy's journey reaches a turning point in adulthood as he battles alcoholism, drug addiction, self-hate, and, ultimately, self-love. Now, as an ADHDdiagnosed adult, he faces a life-altering decision: Can he continue living as he is, or will he find the courage to seek help from a loving God who is willing to give him another chance? That is-- if he is willing to take a leap of faith.
Tom Sabino was born in Mineola, New York, moving to northern New Jersey in the early 1980's. A passionate and proud New Jerseyan, Tom spent most of his childhood in Montville, where he made lifelong friendships with residents from all walks of life. Tom graduated Montville Township High School in 1996. From there, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ as an English/Writing major. Although fictional, much of this book was loosely based on real life events. Tom had begun writing the book in 1999 at Fairleigh Dickinson, and literally dusted the manuscript off the top of his kitchen refrigerator, passionately completing the book as an adult, in one year's time. Tom resides at the Jersey Shore, with his wife Rebekah, and three girls. He makes it a point to visit his hometown any time he is in Northern New Jersey. Tom's passion for his hometown, his friendships, relationships with local establishments, and teachers will have never been forgotten. In his spare time, Tom enjoys writing, reading, exploring the outdoors, baseball, and humor. For those who may identify with the subject matter of addiction in parts of this novel, please know that help is available. It is never too late to ask for help.
