Autorenporträt
Dr.phil.Ian Kershaw, geb. 1943, studierte in Liverpool und Oxford. Er lehrte von 1968-89 an den Universitäten Manchester und Nottingham. Seit 1989 ist er Professor für neuere Geschichte und Direktor des historischen Institus der Universität Sheffield. Kershaws Forschungen über Hitler und das Dritte Reich führten ihn nach London, New York, Moskau und in viele Archive in Deutschland, Österreich und Frankreich. Er war Berater der ZDF-Serie 'Hitler, eine Bilanz' und der BBC-Dokumentarreihe 'The Nazis. Warning from history'. 1984 erhielt er das Bundesverdienstkreuz. 2012 wurde er mit dem Leipziger Buchpreis zur Europäischen Verständigung ausgezeichnet.
