Billy Horton is a professional baseball coach and the Founder of Cactus Athletics. Since 2006 this organization has been providing professional baseball and exercise training for youth ages 8 to 18 years old in the greater Phoenix, AZ area. He is also the author of the book 7 Day Fast, the poem Playing for God, and has written hundreds on online articles.He has over 20 years of coaching experience and was named the 2024 Manager of the Year in the Pioneer League when he skippered the Yolo High Wheelers to the League Championship in their inaugural season. He also won the Manager of the Year award in 2023 when he led the Billings Mustangs to the North Division Championship and an appearance in the League Championship Series. He was a Minor League Coach for the San Francisco Giants from 2012 to 2019 which includes their World Series titles in 2012 and 2014. In his 8 years as a coach with the Giants, his teams compiled a .612 winning percentage, 4 trips to the playoffs, 3 appearances in the Championship series, and won the Championship in 2013. He has also worked in different capacities for the Arizona Diamondbacks, including their World Series Championship in 2001, Chicago White Sox, and Texas Rangers. Even though he was cut his freshman year at Cactus High School, he eventually earned a baseball scholarship to play collegiality at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He went on to play in the Minor Leagues from 1997-2000 for multiple Independent League teams and attended Spring Training as a player with the Chicago White Sox (1999) and Los Angeles Angels (2000).Billy lives in Scottsdale, AZ with his beautiful wife Taleen, their two incredible sons, Connor and Bryce, and Rusty his faithful canine buddy. He has been on the board of directors for multiple charitable organizations and currently serves in the men's ministry at Impact Church.
