Transformation in our AFMC ALCs has increased mission capable rates throughout the Air Force. In AFMC, transformation, leaning and streamlining processes has made an enormous and positive impact on the war fighter. Aircraft and aircraft related components are repaired or purchased faster and more efficiently than ever before. Because of these efforts, the Air Force is seeing huge upturns in mission capability in our fighter, bomber, and airlift fleet. Transformation is not a new concept in the Department of Defense and the Air Force however, throughout the past five years, the Department of Defense and the Air Force's leadership have placed special emphasis on transformation mainly due to low readiness rates and constrained budgets. Each of our three ALCs have put into place a plethora of initiatives all based on improving combat support to our war fighters. Most of these initiatives are centered on fixing or purchasing aircraft parts and components for the supply system or speeding up the process for moving complete aircraft through the depot maintenance and upgrade process. These initiatives have one goal in mind-increasing mission ready aircraft for the war fighter by increasing aircraft available for training and combat missions worldwide. During this process, we have seen dramatic increases in mission capable rates, decreases in supply rates and decreases in field level maintenance rates based on the efforts of our ALCs. Most importantly, these efforts have been critical during extremely challenging wartime operations all over the world.
