¿ekip Altunkan was born in Adana in 1953. He graduated from medical school in 1978. After specializing in internal medicine, he worked as a specialist doctor in various parts of Turkey. He continues to work in his private practice in Ankara. During his professional career, he began writing novels by using his knowledge and experiences in a fictional context. His first novel, Dädaki Ate¿ (The Fire on the Mountain), was followed by Sümbül Kokulu Parfüm (Hyacinth-Scented Perfume), Umut Asla Tükenmez (Hope Never Ends), Büyük Ye¿il (The Great Green), Kurye (The Courier), Sezar Kent, Orkidenin S¿rr¿ (The Secret of the Orchid), and Titreyen Kaya (Trembling Rock), all published in Turkish. He continues his literary work beyond these books. His latest novel, Titreyen Kaya, has been translated and published in English. The translations of his other novels will also be published in the future.
