Fernando Lalana nació en Zaragoza en 1958. Tras estudiar Derecho, encaminó sus pasos hacia la literatura, que se ha convertido en su primera y única profesión. Desde entonces, Fernando Lalana ha publicado más de cien libros de literatura infantil y juvenil. Ha ganado en tres ocasiones el Premio Gran Angular de novela. En 1990 recibió la Mención de Honor del Premio Lazarillo, el Premio Barco de Vapor y en 1993, el Premio de la Feria del Libro de Almería, que concede la Junta de Andalucía. En 1991, el Ministerio de Cultura le concedió el Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil, premio del que ya había sido finalista en 1985 y volvería a serlo en 1997. En 2007, La Tuneladora formó parte de la Lista de Honor White Ravens. En 2010, Fernando obtuvo el Premio Cervantes Chico y en 2012 el Premio Edebé. Fernando Lalana vive en Zaragoza, sobre las piedras que habitaron los romanos de Cesaraugusta y los musulmanes de Medina Albaida. O sea, en el Casco Viejo. He is the author of more than 80 children's and young adult books, including Almogávar sin querer, Industrias Gon, and Mande su hijo a Marte, as well as of four other books in the EXIT series: Amsterdam Solitaire, El asunto Galindo, La tuneladora, and El último muerto.
