S. Raghuram Naidu received the Bachelor's and Master's diplomas from IIT Madras, India in 1966, and IISc Bangalore, India in 1970. He earned the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Liverpool, UK in 1975. He was a Visiting Post-doctoral Fellow with the University of British Columbia, Canada during 1986-1988 and a Visiting Scientist with the University of Wisconsin, USA during 2000-2001. Following graduation, he practiced briefly as an engineer in Madras, India. He became a Professor of Electrical Engineering with the Federal University of Campina Grande, Brazil in 1975 and remained there until retirement in 2015. During his tenure as professor, he lectured and researched in several areas of Electrical Power Engineering, such as: High Voltage Measurements, Electrical Insulation, Magnetism, Power System Transients, Power Electronics and Power Quality.
