Bill Fivaz, a coin collector since 1950, has earned recognition as one of the country's most respected authorities on numismatic errors and die varieties. His awards include the highest recognition of the American Numismatic Association, which presented him its top honor, the Farran Zerbe Memorial Award, in 1995. He was elected to the ANA Hall of Fame in 2002.Bill is widely known as an engaging teacher and a speaker on numismatic topics. He has written hundreds of articles on a wide array of numismatic topics and has been a consultant to several coin authentication services. His contributions are noted in many of today's most popular and respected hobby books, including the A Guide Book of United States Coins (the "Red Book"). Bill has served on the board of governors of the ANA and on the board of directors of CONECA (the Combined Organizations of Numismatic Error Collectors). To honor his reputation as a teacher and writer, in 2010 the ANA and Whitman Publishing endowed the Bill Fivaz Young Numismatist Literary Award, for young numismatists aged 8 to 12.
