He has a strong inclination towards Indian classical literature, with significant influences from authors like Mulk Raj Anand, Rabindranath Tagore, and Aurobindo Ghosh. He has also been influenced by Sarojini Naidu, whose poems he has read extensively and worked on. In his own writing, he has incorporated many Indian elements to reflect Indian classical literature.
