This book applies value chain analysis theory to the tuna sub-sector, using it as a case study of a typical value chain within Vietnam's small-scale fisheries sector. Tuna is one of the most significant seafood products in Vietnam, and the majority of tuna products are exported to international markets. Therefore, management policies for Vietnam's small-scale tuna fisheries need to adhere to the principles of sustainability and responsibility outlined in international public frameworks. By applying value chain theory to the analysis of tuna fisheries, this book aims to propose supportive policies for vulnerable actors along the value chain-such as fishers and women-in order to safeguard their welfare and livelihoods and to promote sustainable and equitable socio-economic development within local tuna-fishing communities.
