Aunque empezó su carrera profesional como abogado, enseguida se dio cuenta de que no le interesaba mucho. Julio Verne fue siempre una persona muy interesada en el futuro y que leía sin parar sobre los inventos que se desarrollaban en su época. En sus novelas trataba de imaginar cómo viviríamos en el siglo XX, qué tecnologías tendríamos, etcétera. Algunos de sus libros hablan de viajes y se adelantaron muchos años a la realidad. Sus obras más importantes son 20.000 leguas de viaje submarino (en la que encontramos el primer submarino eléctrico, el Nautilus), Viaje alrededor del mundo en 80 días (inspirada por el viajero Georges Train, que consiguió ese récord), Cinco semanas en globo y Viaje al centro de la Tierra. Although he began his professional career as a lawyer, Jules Verne quickly realized that it didn't truly interest him. Verne was always deeply fascinated by the future and constantly read about the inventions being developed during his time. In his novels, he tried to imagine how life in the 20th century would unfold--what technologies we'd have, and so on. Some of his books explore the theme of travel and predicted reality many years ahead. His most notable works include Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (where the first electric submarine, the Nautilus, appears), Around the World in Eighty Days (inspired by the traveler Georges Train, who achieved this record), Five Weeks in a Balloon, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
