We tend to understand by vulnerability everything that has to do with the suffering dimension of our reality. But being vulnerable mainly means being affectable. Therefore, what has to do with the human, also the positive and joyful, refers to the fact that we are all, always and at all times, vulnerable beings. This is the starting point of this book, in which the reader is invited to think about vulnerability in an existential key. The philosophical journey is structured around two fundamental areas: the existential reality of vulnerability (its pathos), and the decision to integrate it and live it as an ethical and political gear (its ethos). The author relies on the work of René Descartes, whose philosophy presents, beyond the clichés, as a propitious philosophy to meditate on vulnerability, proposing a philosophical reflection that projects vulnerability as a condition of human life, in all its magnitudes.
