"What if the past, the present, and the future are naturally entwined? Each constantly in flux, but each smoothly flowing together as one; synchronised, compatible, and aligned; a past/future Continuum?" - Bear, leader of the Iyes tribe Hidden from most across the vastness of the Continuum, Kaos's strength grows, and his influence spreads wider. But in one particular time of the Continuum, the ancient Iyes tribe know of this threat from old, understanding it means a return of the ice and ultimately the destruction of them and their Land. Now, as told in their millennia-old Story, their tribe's shaman must make the Request for Warriors to come to their aid and fight for their Land's salvation. Yet their ancient enemy is also moving. Hidden eyes are watching. Across the Continuum, other events unfold. Four childhood friends make a fateful encounter with a young explorer, changing their lives forever. A shadow meets a dragon to hand over a great prize. And a bookseller hears a Story, crossing a story of his own. ¿Arrival is the first part of the Warriors of the Continuum Trilogy, and tells of reluctant Warriors struggling to understand themselves, the world into which they have been thrust, and the scale of the challenge fate has set before them. And just how will the daemons help them ...? The story begins here. It is a beginning.
I'm a life-long geologist with a curious mind, whose favourite film is 'It's a Wonderful Life', and whose bookshelves include works such as John Man's 'Genghis Khan', Steven Erikson's 'Malazan Book of the Fallen', and Roddy Doyle's 'Barrytown Trilogy'. And once upon a time, the peculiar workings of my mind threw out a phrase: 'No one knows but I, who wrote this here and why.' I jotted down the words, then let the journal vanish under layers of dust. Many sun-cycles later, I found said journal and dusted it off. Reading those lost words, I decided to find out what they meant. This led me to Lanky, Jessica, and Beth. And Naga and the Iyes. And Shadow and the Ka. And ... Well, to the tale of the Warriors of the Continuum, a tale of unprepared, yet spirited characters just trying to do the right thing. It tells of a journey of pain, courage, love, and hope cast in both shadow and light. It is a tale I enjoyed discovering, and hope it will be acceptable to most.R.rogerpheath.com
