Watan TV is a Pashto language television station based in Kabul, Afghanistan. It was officially inaugurated on Mar 17, 2011.Television in Afghanistan was first introduced in 1974, when a new organization called Radio Television Afghanistan (government-owned) founded two channels: RTA and Afghanistan National Television. After the completion of feasibility study under grant aid from the Government of Japan, construction work of the studio and transmitter buildings started and were finished by the year 1357 (1978 CE). The centres were officially started in operation in August 1978.
