Maria Christina Chatziioannou is Research Director Emerita at the Institute of Historical Research/National Hellenic Research Foundation (Athens). Her interests focus on social and economic history (18th-20th centuries.) Sophia Laiou is Associate Professor of Ottoman History at Ionian University (Corfu).
