Author Tara Rolstad is a professional speaker and advocate who has helped thousands of people learn more about mental health and practical ways they can support themselves, their families and their co-workers. She breaks down stigma around mental illness by teaching people how to understand and support individuals who struggle with mental health, with a unique combination of expertise, authenticity, and humor. As the parent and foster parent of teens who were suicidal and live with severe mental illness, Tara knows how lonely and scary the journey is. But she also knows that when parents can better communicate with, advocate for, and effectively support their children, there is hope for recovery and growth. She is a program partner with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Washington County and NAMI Clackamas County in Oregon, and the founder and director of mental health conferences for organizations, schools, and faith communities.
