After graduation from college, Alan began a law enforcement career with the U.S. Treasury Department as a Special Agent investigating drug smuggling on the Texas-Mexico border. Temporary assignments took him to New York, Washington, D.C,, Florida, Europe, and the Middle East.Wanting to settle, he went to work with the Temple, Texas, Police Department until leaving for Europe as a contract employee teaching college-level law enforcement classes to U.S. military personnel. Stationed in Berlin, he won a gold medal in an U.S. Army-sponsored international pistol competition. Returning to Temple, he resumed his law enforcement career with the Temple Police being promoted to detective, investigating felony-level offenses and writing detailed reports. Following graduation from Baylor University law school, he joined a DA's office then was elected as the District Attorney. Years later, he spent 10 years as a criminal defense attorney in Fort Worth, Tx. before joining the Texas prison and parole agency as an assistant general counsel. Upon retirement, he began his foray into writing crime fiction.Awards and endorsements included a Best in Crime Fiction Award from the Texas Association of Writers for his first novel, Price of Justice. Game Piece earned a Readers Favorite gold medal. Cornered and Rampage were endorsed by NY Times Best-Selling authors, CJ Lyons and Michael McGarrity.
