Lexile Level: 620 L Grade Level 3-7 Elizabeth Weller is the new kid at school. But rural Idaho is far from the suburbs of Chicago, especially when everywhere you look there's corn. But something is wrong with the corn. Cobs aren't supposed to have wiggling black and brown strands, right? But the odd corn isn't the strangest thing Elizabeth's seen. Nearly everyone she's met has deep wrinkles in their foreheads, like they've been frowning too much. And every night in the fields outside her new home an eerie cry carries through the air.

Autorenporträt
ROBERT ZANGARI cut his teeth as an author writing very long form epic fantasy novels. While he adores that genre he also has a fondness for telling spooky children's tales. His love of the original Twilight Zone (1959-1964) and classic Goosebumps (1992 -1997) was formative in his ability to craft eerie stories. Once he was a father, he found himself inspired to create his own fables of fright, which he told as bedtime stories to his children, then 3, 6, and 9. Those stories are now Spookies(R). As of this publication, Robert lives in Northern Utah with his wife, Tamila, and their five daughters.
