When I jumped the wall, it arose from my concerns about certain individuals who cross paths in life. Individuals who, despite many mishaps and adversities while walking the tightrope of life, continue to move forward. That is how this book came about. It was the subjects, or as I preferred, "the subjects," the transvestites, to challenge the universal, white, heterosexual, middle-class male, who spoke in this text. Their voices, their sorrows and joys, their adventures and misadventures were revisited so that they could recount their experiences with the school institution. And they brought back terrible memories, which are still perpetuated in this institution today. But these, like butterflies that they are, like walkers of a life that wants to exist, resist and transform themselves. Jumping over walls, crossing precipices on tightropes, dancing, smiling... After all, they are butterflies and they want to fly around.
