As an immortal shapeshifter, Kellan is used to healing from physical wounds. But after sacrificing herself to a sadistic faery to protect her friend, nothing, it turns out, could prepare her for the emotional and physical torment that lingers once she's free. She has a new secret eating her up inside. She's pregnant, and the father could be either her partner, Tony, or her recent tormentor. As she struggles with this reality, the Sankhain community is thrown into turmoil when a beloved youngling attempts suicide after an assault causing a chain reaction of events. Kellan quickly learns her promise of a safe place for the younglings has been turned into a lie by another orphan brought into the fold. If that isn't bad enough, there's uncontrolled magic in their midst, and it's sharp as knives. As Kellan battles to maintain order and grapples with what it means to deliver justice, her own health deteriorates, and her world unravels. She must find a way to protect her family while facing her darkest fears. When the Fur Hits the Fan, Duck by Carrie Newberry is the third installment of the Eternal Spring, Invisible Forest series. It's a gripping tale of survival, love, and the unbreakable bonds of family in the face of unimaginable adversity. Warning: Dark content and heavy themes.
Autorenporträt
Carrie Newberry studied creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She chose to walk away from academia without her degree, when she discovered they would no longer let her take writing workshops for credit. Now a Madison dog groomer by day, Carrie is also a member of the faculty at AllWriters' Workplace and Workshop, an international creative writing studio based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. AllWriters' allows her to take as many writing workshops as she wishes and even lets her teach some of them! She lives in Madison with two lovable but obnoxious cats, one who is a potted plant serial killer, and another who spends the wee hours of the morning chirping louder than the birds.
