Mary has a connection with nature, frequently seeing faces in trees. When an ancient tree named Cowboy reaches out for help, Mary, struggling with self-doubt, discovers her ability to communicate with them. Alongside her friend Bella and Bella's foster son Matt, Mary delves into the forest's environmental crisis, learning about soil health and sustainable practices. As they encounter allies like Portia, and others marked to carry the earth's message, Mary finds her voice and embraces her destiny to protect the forest. As their collective efforts become an expansive movement, the impact of the message amplifies, and the earth begins to sense something new: relief. Whispers for Terra is a story of hope, inspiration, and finding one's path, showing us the impact group actions can make to heal our earth and each other. It shows the serendipitous power of events when we find courage to move beyond our fears. It affirms that we are so much more than we believe ourselves to be. Whispers for Terra weaves a tale of the life teeming in our forests, proposing that sentient life of the forest is not so far removed from our own human experience.
Nancy Houser-Bluhm hails from the Mitten State, aka Michigan. She considers herself a hybrid, having lived half of her life in Michigan and nearly half in Colorado (along with some years in the Northwest.) She enjoys all things nature whether it's the mountains, water, or forests. She loves spending time with her husband, extended family, friends, and pets. Colorado was the inspiration for both her novels. Seeing re-run of shows such as Land of the Giants and reading the children's book series, Half Magic fed an early interest in time travel and magical realism. With her return to Michigan, she's excited to soak up new inspiration while exploring trails, local farms, breweries, and wineries.Nancy has written her entire life. She wrote her first newsy letter in second grade when a friend moved to another town and has been writing ever since. Nancy dabbles in poetry. She is a lifelong journaler even though inadequate time is devoted to it as of late. Nancy has written opinion pieces, vignettes, and blogs about this and that, which is why her blog is named Minderings, a place for the wanderings of your mind. Numerous articles have appeared in local newspapers.Authentic communication with herself and others continues to be a life quest and she believes our gift of communication is meant to build bridges, spread joy and belief in those around us. Nancy loves when readers reach out to her.
