1989, Botswana A marriage tested. Secrets that refuse to stay buried. The Australian pilots' dispute of 1989 shatters two careers: those of journalist Verity White and her husband James. Bound by loyalty, Verity follows James to Botswana, where the vast, lonely wilderness of the Okavango Delta will test their already fractured marriage. Searching for purpose, Verity unearths a fifteen-year-old mystery surrounding a suspicious death, drawing her towards a charismatic safari operator and the dangerous secrets he keeps. As she closes in on a brutal poaching ring, Verity must decide what she's willing to risk-her marriage, her life, or the chance to finally reclaim herself. This sweeping historical novel is drawn from the author's own life as a safari hostess in the Okavango during that pivotal time, where she met and married the bush pilot who would change her life.
Born into a family of adventurers, Beverley (B.G.) Nettelton spent her earliest years in Lesotho's remote, mountainous terrain, drawing inspiration from the African kingdom's craggy peaks and far-flung valleys to shape her Wings over Africa series.Under her other pen names - Beverley Eikli and Beverley Oakley -she writes historical romance with mystery and suspense, and Regency Romantic Comedies.Beverley's dashing bush pilot characters are based on the handsome Norwegian aviator who swept her off her feet when Beverley ran safari lodges in Botswana's pristine, game-rich Okavango Delta. She began her writing career as a journalist, but it was during long aerial survey contracts around the world-often as the sole woman among the crew-that she began to write romance novels.Beverley lives just north of Melbourne with the same wonderful husband she whisked away from Botswana thirty years ago, together with their youngest daughter (the oldest lives in Norway), and a gorgeous, dopey Rhodesian Ridgeback. When she's not writing, she runs a bed & breakfast & Farmstay business (called Wuthering Heights) in South Australia's beautiful wine growing Clare Valley with her two sisters, and teaches Writing.
