This Final Paper presents a reflection on the expectations of future Portuguese language teachers. It points out the fears, insecurities and recurring doubts of future teachers; what attitudes and activities reduce these anxieties; producing research material for academic teachers who want to understand and help their students even more. As a methodology, we analyzed the responses collected through a questionnaire sent electronically to students from different higher education institutions in southern Brazil. From there, an analysis was started to substantiate the feelings expressed and also to gather information that can contribute to the development of young teachers.
