What do Queer Nationalists, Deaf Culturalists, The Modern State of Israel and the Quebec Separatist Movement all have in common? - They all at one stage shared a common desire to be independent sovereign Nations. This book centres around the core concepts of community integration, community isolation and community re-integration. It poses a question of why some nations go on to fulfill a desire to be sovereign States and others don't? It focuses on the Gay community and their unique and distinct self styled "Queer Culture" and how their community tried, at one stage, to strive for Nationhood. It will also draw on comparisons to similar movements in the American Deaf Community as well as the Quebec Separatist Movement. The Creation of the Modern State of Israel will serve as an example of how radical ideas (at one point in time) mobilised a once scattered and disparate community into a united people with a Nation State to call their own. Ultimately this book examines multiple forms of Alternative Nationalism. Its natural evolution leads either towards a new Nation or re-integration with the old.
