Each species has a subtly different strategy for denning, cub rearing, enduring the juvenile years, finding food, and for breeding. Bears learn well and are shaped considerably by their environment and past experiences. Using firsthand field observations of rarely seen bear behaviour and photographs gathered from over 15 years guiding groups to watch bears around Canada, Eddy Savage brings you deeper into the fascinating lives of the Wild Bears of Canada. Wild Bears of Canada is the first book to be published by wildlife guide and photographer Eddy Savage. He has meticulously compiled over 120 pages of first hand stories from the field, carefully selected photographs, and thoughtful insights into the lives of polar bears, black bears, and grizzly bears from over a decade in the field as a bear viewing guide and photographer.
Autorenporträt
Eddy Savage is a career wildlife guide and photographer from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. He's spent over 15 years leading nature based expeditions in Canada and abroad. He has been sharing the intricate lives of bears with visitors from around the world for over a decade having spent thousands of hours observing grizzly bears, black bears, and polar bears in a non-intrusive way. He has come by some extraordinary tales and lessons from the Ursine world while spending time wading through shallow rivers, kayaking along remote coastlines, boating into coastal estuaries, and exploring the sub-arctic tundra in specialized machines. As a photographer, his camera has gone everywhere he's gone. He has long maintained an extensive catalog of photos from his forays into the bears realm and often uses them to formulate lectures and presentations to educate people on the little known lives of bears. He also leads photography expeditions internationally, focusing on both wildlife and landscape photography. The Wild Bears of Canada brings both of Eddy's passions together in a comprehensive inquiry into the lives of Canada's bears. He has meticulously selected photos and compiled a collection of some of his most eye-opening bear encounters from over a decade in the field.
