Willagee is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and is located 15 kilometres (9 mi) south-southwest of Perth's central business district (CBD). Its Local Government Area is the City of Melville.The suburb is bounded by Leach Highway to the north, Garling Street to the south, Stock Road to the west and North Lake Road to the east.Willagee is named after Willagee Swamp, the Noongar name of a now-reclaimed feature in the area. The suburb was developed in the early 1950s, and the name approved in 1954.Willagee was originally created as a public housing estate for local and immigrant (mainly British) workers. It is characterised by demountable, wooden cottages with stilts(spears), although it is in the midst of a sweeping redevelopment plan, which is supposed to improve the quality of the housing.
