"William Macy Stanton (1888-1969) was born to a Quaker family in northern Appalachia. Delos D. Hughes was a professor of political science at Washington and Lee University. He was the author of Historic Alabama Courthouses: A Century of Their Imagesand Stories and coauthor of Lost Auburn: A Village Remembered in Period Photographs and No Place Like Home: An Architectural Study of Auburn, Alabama. He passed away in 2025.
