Betty and Irene hope.Diane cries.Danielle and Ryan survive.Raine and Charlie live.Does history repeat itself, or are familiar patterns simply closer to the heart? Can they be built upon or must they be burned away for new life to grow from the ashes?Preserved with Nova Scotian salt, this is the story of four generations from the East Coast of Canada. Knit, torn apart, and patched together again by several women over the course of 77 years, this family reminds us how income, gender, trauma, and choice shape us into people we may, or may not want to, recognise.

Autorenporträt
Sarah Picco was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, and moved to Germany in 2016 to fulfil their life-long dream of living abroad. No, Germany was not their specific goal but a happy accident; yes, they love living here; yes, there are reasons to love living here; and yes, nature here can be just as beautiful as it is in Canada. They currently work at a psychiatric clinic as a peer support worker, using their life story to help and inspire teens and families in crisis. They live for the drama - and also with their partner and two cats in North Rhein-Westphalia, Germany.
