Perfect for fans of gritty, character-driven mysteries: ✔ A PI who can't mask the addiction that's ruining his life ✔ A city of broken lights, bad cops, and worse secrets ✔ A hardboiled mystery set in the garbage-strewn streets of 1970s NYC ✔ Written by a native New Yorker who lived through it Come back to the New York of blackouts, dirty money, and broken dreams - and meet a detective just trying not to break.
BILL KRIEGER was born and raised in New York City - not the fancy parts. He grew up in Bronx tenements, where laundry lines hung between windows and his favorite uncle, a city cabbie, was killed on the job. As a teenager, Bill delivered lunches to Wall Street and paperwork to Midtown law offices. Later, he built a career on Madison Avenue, working as a creative director at top advertising agencies. Eventually, Bill left the suits and slogans behind to write mystery fiction- gritty, character-driven stories rooted in the city that raised him. He currently lives with his wife, Arlene, in Northern Virginia -where he's surrounded by books on homicide investigation, literary noir, and the weirdest corners of human behavior.
