Working Toward Excellence identifies ten nonnegotiables for achieving excellence in work and life. A nonnegotiable is a core value that’s not open to discussion or modification; it is not negotiable. This steadfast commitment to the ten featured here provides a powerful and reliable game plan for working toward excellence—and achieving it. This second edition features the latest research, fresh stories, and two new nonnegotiables for attaining uncommon success—simplicity and sacrifice. Both move the needle by doing the opposite of human nature’s tendency to add things to our already busy, distracted, and cluttered lives. As motivational speaker Larry Winget said, “You have to give up what’s keeping you from being successful.” Packed with inspiration and wisdom from high performers in business, sports, education, and the art such as John Maxwell, Stephen Covey, John Wooden, Mike Krzyzewski, and many others, Working Toward Excellence helps leaders—and those they lead—work toward excellence in any endeavor.
