Yank Shi was born in China in 1941. He worked as an English teacher in a college in Yantai China for 14 years and got a master's degree in Linguistics in Fudan University in Shanghai. Yank worked as an English teacher in Dalian Institute of Foreign Languages for 4 years, came to the US in 1986, and earned a master's degree of linguistics and a master's degree of fine art at University of Colorado at Boulder. He ran a manufacturing company related to semi-conductor for 20 years and have now retired.
