Jada was so excited and nervous she had butterflies in her belly. Today was her very first dance class! But when she got to class and stood in front of the big mirror with the other students, she realized something. Her leotard fit a bit differently than the others, and she didn't look like the other dancers. They were all tall and thin, and there was even a boy in the class! Jada was so excited and nervous she had butterflies in her belly. Today was her very first dance class! But when she got to class and stood in front of the big mirror with the other students, she realized something. When she got home she started to cry. But her mom dried her tears and told her it didn't matter how she looked, she was a great dancer! At the next class, Jada was even more nervous. But what happened next surprised and amazed everyone, including Jada! A fun, upbeat, and colorfully illustrated children's book that is a perfect way for parents, teachers, and caregivers to help teach kids about body image, and that it doesn't matter who you are or what you look like, you can do anything you have a passion for!
T'Kea Le Grande believes one moment on a dance floor can make a dancer and change a life. Born and raised Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at a very early age T'Kea displayed a love for the arts, realizing that dance gave her the opportunity to express herself in poetry through movement. T'Kea's love of dance was nurtured as a student in several prestigious dance schools through high school, and while earning her degree in performing arts from Valencia College in Orlando. At Valencia she studied and performed many forms of dance and participated in the program's marketing campaigns including TV commercials, radio, and billboards throughout Central Florida. She also performed and choreographed for a local girl band, Cassiopeia. Relocating back to Philadelphia, T'Kea served as the artistic director of the dance program at Crozer Keystone Healthplex, where she taught ballet, hip-hop, Caribbean cardio, and modern dance. There she also trained with the modern dance company Koresh. Later, T'Kea returned to Orlando and founded the Avalon Dance Company, where she has trained and mentored numerous students. Her company has performed for the Orlando Magic, UCF Athletics Department, the Dr. Phillips groundbreaking event, and much more. She currently lives in Orlando, and has two lovely daughters.
