Set in David Drake's Hammer's Slammers universe (with his gracious permission) this is a story about a vectored-thrust (aircar) unit that I developed while deployed in Afghanistan. Unlike the nominal Hammer's Slammers story this book is set on the planet New Hope, which resembles Afghanistan in a way and features stories related to a planet beset by an insurgency. Stories are a collection of short stories I came up for this book and also relate to real-world experiences taken from the news or some that are personal experiences. This book takes place after The Sharp End as far as chronology goes.

Autorenporträt

Eric Johnson is a military veteran and self-published author who served in the US Army and US Army National Guard for twelve years and three years, respectively, and has been deployed on five occasions, including two combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been published since 2010 and has numerous books available on multiple platforms. He uses his combat experience to craft imaginative stories that focus on counterinsurgency warfare, as well as more conventional war stories, depending on the story. He also reads books on the subject, ensuring that while he draws on his combat experience to make his stories emotionally and accurately right, he also applies that knowledge to enhance them and provide a well-researched touch. While he has focused on the conventional side of the futuristic military in the 2-4 Cavalry series, he has gradually shifted to special operations stories and other related tropes, such as the conventional mercenary unit Task Force Green. His primary genre is military science fiction (5th Kommando, C Troop 1-5 Kommando, 2-4 Cavalry series, Eagle Hammer Universe series, and TF Green), and he has written a few books in other genres as well, including the fantasy Tales of Baromir series. He has also written some Music as well. He has also written some Erotica as well. He has also written Other Books that don't fit into a series of books that he has written.
