This collection of poems is the result of past events in my life, some good others not so. From childhood, teenage rebellion and into adult life, after all it is the events and encounters that shape our future whether good or bad. Memories have always refused to remain idle in the far reaches of my mind, for they always seem to pop up at various times, as does the imagery and emotions that accompany them. Dreams also have played their part, as a child I loved the stories of ancient Greece, especially that of Orpheus in the underworld and Perseus, add a pinch of fairy-tale, Celtic and Nordic legends, together with old films and TV shows. The final ingredient that made an impact was poetry, especially the works of POE, KEATS, BYRON, and my favourite PERCY SHELLEY, who throughout my teenage years made such an impact upon my working-class mind.

Autorenporträt
FREDDIE SCOTT {ROBERT PICKERING} was born in the market town of Spalding Lincolnshire, Into a working-class family, as a child he suffered from kidney trouble and spent considerable time in the royal French hospital Shaftsbury Ave, where he underwent a series of operations, as a result he missed a great deal of school which hampered him through his educational years. At a time when if you could not keep up then you were given a label i.e. backward/ slow/ dim and all the other tags that remained with you until leaving school at the age of 15. His school reports often read THIS BOY IS A DREAMER, or IF HE SPENT AS MOUCH TIME CONCENTRATING ON HIS WORK INSTEAD OF LOOKING OUT OF THE WINDOW HE MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING, what he did learn was how to rebel, which he did! It was not until much later {2014} that he was diagnosed with dyslexia which explained a great deal. Growing up in the 60s and 70s in a working-class environment meant that once you got a label a lot of doors were shut to you. Living in a county that as a two-tier educational system meant that if you failed the 11 plus some of society marked you as a failure and they felt you were only fit for either factory, land work or the armed forces for which I was medically unfit, hence I got a trade as I decorator. I always wanted to write but because of my label I was often told why? or that's not for you! But write I did and I haven't stopped!! 'For my eyes are drawn towards drifting skies, and upon such a scene I shall dream of forest green.' Freddie Scott.
