A Dear Little Girl's Summer Holidays written by Amy E. Blanchard. This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself.

Autorenporträt
Amy Ella Blanchard was an American writer, born on June 28, 1854, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Daniel Harris Blanchard and Sarah Reynolds. She was educated in public schools and later studied art in New York City and Philadelphia. Early in her career, Blanchard worked as an art teacher at the Woman's College in Baltimore, now Goucher College, before moving to teach drawing and painting in Plainfield, New Jersey. Blanchard s literary career began at the young age of 16 when her first poem was published. By the age of 19, she published her first book, but her major success came in 1893 when her stories gained widespread attention. In 1888, she published Bonny Bairns in collaboration with artist Ida Waugh, a book that was notable for its high-quality illustrations and catchy verses. Blanchard and Waugh shared a deep personal and professional bond, collaborating on many projects. She lived in Washington, D.C. for a time, where she continued to write and received recognition for her contributions to American literature. She died on July 4, 1926, in Bailey Island, Maine, and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Maryland.
