The recent drive toward automation has increased our reliance on control systems technology.This book discusses control systems design from a model-based perspective for dynamic system models of single-input single-output type. The emphasis in this book is on understanding and applying the techniques that enable the design of effective control systems in multiple engineering disciplines. The book covers both time-domain and the frequency-domain design methods, as well as controller design for both continuous-time and discrete-time systems. MATLAB© and its Control Systems Toolbox are extensively used for design.

Autorenporträt
Kamran Iqbal obtained his B.E. in Aeronautical Engineering from NED University, his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Ohio State University, followed by postdoctoral work at Northwestern University. He has held academic appointments at College or Aeronautical Engineering, GIK Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, University of California, Riverside, University of California, Irvine, California State University at Fullerton, and University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he currently serves as Professor of Systems Engineering. His research interests include neuromechanics and motor control of human movement, computational intelligence, and biomedical engineering and signal processing. He is a senior member of IEEE (USA), a member of IET (UK), ASEE, IASTED, and Sigma Xi, and past president of Sigma Xi Central Arkansas Chapter. He is a regular contributor to the IEEE System, Man, and Cybernetics and/or Engineering in Medicine and Biology conference.
