This book explores a humanistic approach to English for academic purposes pedagogy through the creation of a theory for the designing and planning of pedagogical activities. The theory proposes that by applying the concepts of people, place and compassion in planning and designing stages, learners will have the opportunity to take control of their learning and develop their skillset - this is power. Laura Dyer is a lecturer in English for academic purposes at the University of Leeds, UK. She holds a Master's in TESOL and has over 15 years' experience in teaching English for academic purposes and as a foreign language. She has also previously taught in the Czech Republic, Australia and Italy.
