Emilynn's distrust for God is put to the test by this dog and the loving people she meets along the way. In her quest for a new life, she discovers the God whom she insisted did not exist, because if He did exist, He had failed her miserably. Emilynn's walls begin to crumble as perfect strangers care for her. She finds her mother's high school friend, who introduces her to Jesus. Despite her plans to the contrary, Emilynn also finds herself falling in love with a sandy-haired mechanic who experienced his own battle with God.
