This book is meant to help the reader rationalize really large concepts like the size and age of our galaxy and universe. It starts by looking up at the night sky and understanding how far we can see. We can see so far that the number of miles is mind boggling. How do we even begin to rationalize that we can see 10,000 light years away? Let alone one light year, or the distance to our nearest neighboring star. We need to understand the power of numbers and the concepts of exponential growth and orders of magnitude. We will explore these concepts and give many examples on how to piece them together. We will take a little look at the history of numbers and the art of guessing, or estimating. By being able to estimate and approximate our mind becomes free to explore very large numbers. We explore our local solar system and make comparisons of traveling light speed, versus space flight versus driving our favorite car. We talk a little bit about space crafts like Voyager I, Cassini and Artemis II. It's a mini adventure with a mind opening quest. We hope that you enjoy A Walk Along the Milky Way.
