MARILYN HERING has always been interested in social problems. Her first book A Woman Possessed, dealt with the abominable working conditions in the silk mills of Paterson. A Woman Beloved examines the treatment of the mentally ill and alcoholic. A Woman Endures touches upon violence against women and prejudice. Ms. Hering was previously an English teacher at Pascack Valley High School. She lives in Harrington Park, New Jersey.
