Autorenporträt
Samuel Hall Young, often referred to as S. Hall Young, was an American clergyman born on September 12, 1847, in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was educated at The College of Wooster before dedicating much of his life to missionary work in Alaska. His time in the Alaskan wilderness profoundly influenced his life, and he spent several years serving as a missionary during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Throughout his life, he also became known for his writings, including memoirs and accounts of his experiences in Alaska. His personal journey, including his interactions with miners and indigenous communities during the Alaskan gold rushes, formed the basis for much of his literary work. These memoirs provided a unique perspective on the challenges faced by those who lived and worked in such a harsh, rugged environment. Samuel Hall Young passed away in 1927 at the age of 80 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He was survived by his daughter, Margaret Alaska Young, who became an important figure in her own right.
